Playful Explorations with the UNFOLD® Method

This six-session series invites participants into a playful, improvisational exploration of the body in space, guided by the foundational principles of the UNFOLD® method — itself grounded in the principles of the Alexander Technique.
In each 1.5-hour session, participants explore the body through gentle mobilisation and movement sequences that support well-coordinated, healthy physicality — in dance and in daily life — sharpening self-awareness, reconnecting with their own physicality, and taking time to explore anatomy through embodied experience.
Working with UNFOLD®’s Movement Mapping Principles, the group builds a clear understanding of its own posture and a shared vocabulary for refining movement. Through offered movement sequences and improvised material, participants awaken their own playfulness and joy and get in touch with an endless source of creativity.

For whom?

The work brings the physical and emotional richness of the moving body to everyone — dancers and non-dancers alike, actors and performers included.

About the UNFOLD® method:

The UNFOLD® method was founded in 2019 by Valentina Bordenave, a dancer, choreographer, and a certified Alexander Technique teacher with over 30 years of experience as a dance and movement teacher. Her work rests on three pillars: dismantling unwanted habitual patterns, nurturing a sustainable creative practice, and cultivating a healthy, aware relationship to body and mind.

UNFOLD® draws on the Alexander Technique as one of its foundations, while also weaving in Valentina’s own background in dance and movement — a springboard toward greater balance, coordination, and connection with the present moment. Through a psychophysical dialogue with one’s own support and movement systems, body-mind connectivity improves, and postural and movement habits begin to change. At this new level of alertness and mechanical efficiency, one’s relationship to lightness, gravity, space, time, and creativity is redefined.

Jean-Charles Vallet

UNFOLD® Teacher, Facilitator, Performer, Stage Actor

Jean-Charles Vallet is a French UNFOLD teacher and performer based in Berlin. After ten years working as a stage actor and performer, he became increasingly interested in questions of presence, coordination and effortless action. Initially drawn to the Alexander Technique in 2018 to improve both his stage work and resolve recurring physical issues, he discovered the UNFOLD Method in 2020. Its integration of Alexander principles with movement exploration, anatomy and creative practice deeply resonated with his own artistic research. >From 2023 to 2026, Jean-Charles trained directly with UNFOLD's creator, Valentina Bordenave, completing the method's three-year teacher training programme. Alongside his movement practice, he has taught theatre and the Meisner Technique and continues to explore approaches to performance that emerge from non-doing, playfulness and the suspension of fixed rules. His classes invite participants to cultivate greater awareness, ease and efficiency while expanding their possibilities for movement and self-expression.
