Somatics & Trauma
At its core, somatics mean creating a space where bodily sensations are (once again) allowed to find expression. In trauma-sensitive work, this often involves the gentle discovery of slowness and allowing one's own rhythm to emerge.
When we learn to deepen our physical self-perception and use the flow of breath and movement as a compass, we can recognize deeply rooted patterns and set gentle impulses for change.
But how can this somatic experiential knowledge be used concretely to find sustainable (self-)regulation after traumatic experiences? How can touch - both one's own and that of others - become a safe anchor?
