- Moving like a Skeleton - Experiential anatomy of the skeleton
EN | 3-day-Workshop of the movement physiology with Katja Münker
Experiential anatomy of the skeleton for application in educational, therapeutic or artistic professions. This workshop provides an in-depth look at skeletal anatomy and the physiology of movement of joint connections.
What does this workshop focus on?
For participants from body-awareness methods, this workshop offers detailed anatomy knowledge with a focus on biomechanical force projections along the skeleton. Participants who already have a sound knowledge of anatomy can anchor their knowledge more deeply in their own body orientation through specific movement-awareness exercises.
Which somatic methods were practiced?
Based on the Feldenkrais Method, economic force-trajectories through the skeleton in movement are physically explored in movement-explorations and demonstrated on the body as well as on the skeleton. Each day is dedicated to the detailed deepening of one large functional unit (trunk & head / pelvis & legs / arms & shoulders) and its importance for the whole system.
For whom is this workshop recommended?
This workshop is for participants with and without previous knowledge. It will be in English with German translation.
- Participants of the SAB trainings as a supplement to the training content

Ausführliche Seminarinformationen
What is Experiential Anatomy about?
Experiential Anatomy is a multi-methodic approach towards anatomical and physiological knowledge which brings the individual sensuous experience into a dialogical research relationship with medical and scientific facts. Body systems and processes are deeply explored and integrated into the own body image based on i.a. Feldenkrais Method, Body-Mind-Centering and/or improvisation and in the use of images, materials, models and movement-experiments. Thereby a more complex and alive understanding of the own body and of body in general can develop. Simultaneously this learning method strengthens self-efficacy and autonomy. The practice combines trusting in the own body with knowing about the body.
When and how does Experiential Anatomy take place at the Somatic Academy Berlin?
Experiential Anatomy shows a creative diversity of didactics and teaching methods depending on the methods used. Individual movement research, group exercises and hands-on practice are incorporated. The facilitators Heike Kuhlmann, Nina Wehnert and Katja Münker regularly offer workshops with different topics.
